NATURE SPIRITS

NATURE SPIRITS - HOW TO CONNECT WITH FAIRIES AND GNOMES
People have spoken, written, rejoiced about nature spirits like the fairies and the gnomes since human activities were ever recorded.

You go into a forest, venture to a desert, hike to a nearby stream, sit with your favorite tree, walk on a trail, and have no doubt found comfort and solace with the magical energies present there.

The crisp leaves whispering beneath your feet as you walk shares with you their secrets, so you share back.

We have all shared a secret or two with the forest or bushland. It's not just the trees and plants that listen to you, though they hear you too, there are other Spirits in the woods and scrub who want to reach out and offer their assistance to you.

You may have seen them at twilight as a twinkle in the air or heard their whispers on a summer night. You may have sensed their presence in the fall or autumn in an old wood grove.

Earth Spirits are typically considered any type of Spirit related to and considered inhabiting amongst nature - fairies, trolls, gnomes, even plant and animal spirits, such as tree spirits.

The two main types are fairies and gnomes, and how to connect with these spirits is what we'll go over.

Below we'll begin with connecting to fairies, and then we'll move into discussing gnomes.

FAIRIES
The fairies are small beings, who often appear as human. Still, in elf-life outfits of a variety of colours and textures.

When you see one, many are very similar to characters to what you see in the movie Peter Pan, but they can take many shapes and blend into the scenes of nature itself.

People have often described seeing them as glimmers of light, or glares of the sun, but in places where there is no sun. If you close your physical eyes, you can also see fairies with your third eye when they really want to make themselves known.

HOW TO CONNECT TO A FAIRY

GO TO THEIR ENVIRONMENT

If you live on the edge of a natural area, you're very likely to see them, as going to a fairy's habitat increases your chances of encountering one.

Fairies live everywhere but tend to prefer areas with lots of bird, insect, and wildlife activity. Think clearings, shorelines, and even the undergroves of forests.

You can also bring their habitat to you by planting things fairies like, such as mosses, ivy, and other ground covering vines, such as Vinca. They also like fresh water for the birds. You can call them into you by taking care of the animals and the land in your area.

NOTICE HOW THEY FEEL

The presence of a fairy feels like a warm tingling, as though someone is giving you a warm tickle. You might feel it on the back of your neck and arms, or on the tip of your nose. Think of the sensation like a butterfly wing batting your nose.

Sometimes fairies’ presence gives people a psychic chill that feels magical or an overwhelming feeling of hope.

ASK A QUESTION

Fairies like to solve problems for people, in the simplest, quickest, and kindest way possible.

compassionate and loving for you. They encourage you to take rest and retreat, remind you to have joy and seek beauty, and always want to let you know when you are fighting the natural flow of life.

Want to know what is healthiest for your own soul, and what solution would cause you the least stress and the most joy?

Ask the fairies. Want to know what hobby you should seek or what spiritual path would be the easiest and best for you to follow? The Fairy realm would know the answer to this. Want permission to take a break or go on a vacation?

There are lots of different kinds of fairies out there with all sorts of roles, so know it's possible to encounter multiple different types of fairies.

In addition to the Fairy Realm, there is another realm of nature spirits. They are found in folktales, cartoons, and garden centers all over the Northern and Southern Hemispheres, and these Earth Spirits are Gnomes.

GNOMES
If you've ever seen the cartoon, David The Gnome (1985), you already know that gnomes live at the base of large, elderly, mature, and knowledgeable trees. And in fact, they do.
Unlike fairies, who prefer open clearings and spaces where worlds meet, such as shorelines and edges, gnomes prefer to spend their time deep in the forest.

They like to hang out where there is so much shade, very little grows, think mushrooms, old logs, and dried leaves.

Which is where they are meant to be since gnomes are considered the protectors of the forest.

Gnomes can often be seen wearing hats, and clothing with the colours of green, red, and white. Green, for the colours of the leaves and the moss. White, to represent the colour of Spirit. Red, for the colour of the mother earth and steady protection.

They are usually between 12-18 inches in height and are often seen by humans only as a darting figure or peeking at you from a low stoop or from behind a tree.

Sometimes they come into the house and can be seen as a deep shadow. They love to watch humans and observe us from behind things and around corners.

They are curious, wary, and concerned, and while gnomes are often depicted relaxing, they are hard-workers in the spirit realms and they act as anchors for the earth energy of all around.

Gnomes are also the healers of the Earth Spirits. Both female and male gnomes are healers.

Gnomes especially take to peaceful people who wish to protect the forest too and often see these people as their children. Checking in on the people who can hear and sense them and live nearby, quite regularly.

Do you live in a forested setting?

Do you frequent a forest for long runs or hikes?

If so, becoming friendly with the longest-serving and most knowledgeable Spirits in the forest, the Gnomes, is indeed in your highest and greatest good the longest-serving and most knowledgeable Spirits in the forest, the Gnomes, is indeed in your highest and greatest good.

HOW TO CONNECT WITH A GNOME

Gnomes are attracted to other healers, such as herbalists and people who take care of animals, such as wildlife rescue volunteers and veterinarians. They are fond of people who work with energy to heal, such as shamans and others in similar trades, like acupuncture.

They offer the wisdom of the woods and can teach many things about plants and animals that reside there.

Want more wildlife encounters? The gnomes are eager to introduce you.

Want to learn about herbal medicine? Gnomes wish to direct and guide you to the best plants for your health. All you have to do is listen. First, ask for and gain their trust.

MAKING AN OFFERING

Begin connecting by making an offering to the world of the gnomes. Grab a handful of blueberries or another healing herb and walk outside. Tell the gnomes that you come to their world in peace, and wish to offer them this gift, in return for their trust and protection.

DEMONSTRATE YOUR APPRECIATION

Show respect to them by getting a gnome-like statue for your home, this lets them know you protect the forest and honor the spirits who live there.

ASK FOR THEIR HELP

Gnomes often feel like you are being watched by something playful when they’re around. When you sense one around, or if you see a gnome statue, this is a good indicator you're in an area they frequent.

While there, tune in and ask for some healing guidance. What you get intuitively will be sure to benefit both you and the earth.

The realms of the Fairies and the Gnomes also work together.

The Fairy realm will often alert those in the gnome realm of new forest visitors and residents, and the gnomes will promptly head over to check them out. Fairies will also alert the gnomes of forest friends, people who are kind, loving, and love nature.

So if you have a visit from one, you can usually expect a visit from the other, as long as you are open to one.
