THE ART OF SIGILS

DISCOVERING A SIGIL

If you do not feel like making your own sigil you can go through the act of finding a sigil to use that has the intention of what you would like to manifest. You could do this by looking online, or by looking in magickal grimoires to find sigils that you could use in your practice. You could also find another practitioner to make you one, or ask your deity (deities), spirit guide(s), higher self, or any other being, or entity that you are in communication with to make, or give you one. In meditation, spiritual journeys, dreams, astral projection, and astral travel you may also be able to have sigils appear to you. Sigils found in meditation, or in a dream will be connected to the individual subconscious mind, and may have intentions associated with how they appear to you within the dream they are found, because of this it is important to practice dream, and meditation interpretation, so that you are able to know exactly what the sigil is for. Any sigils that you find will be as effective as once you create yourself, though it may not be as personal to you, but it still should be able to manifest what you want. Once you have found whatever sigil you would like to use you can go through the process of creating a representation for you to use, so that you will be able to charge it, and activate it in order to manifest your will.

SIGIL MAKING UTENSILS

Sigil making utensils are constructs that are used to make physical representations of sigils. These utensils can be used in order to empower your sigil during the construction of their physical representations. These utensils can be any object that can be used to create a sigil's physical representation such as pens, pencils, knives, chisels, and wands, along with many other things. These items are blessed, or enchanted with power, so that they can empower what they are going to help create. These sigil making utensils will be endowed with metaphysical properties that will add power to your sigil before they are even charged by a charging method. These tools will also allow you to enter an altered state of consciousness whenever you interact with them, because you will mentally build up associations between the tool, and your magickal working. This will allow your mind to associate some magickal acts with the tool itself instilling an altered state of consciousness in your mind whenever you interact with that tool. These things will allow a sigil making utensil to increase the effectiveness of your sigil magick.

HOW TO MAKE SIGIL MAKING UTENSILS:

First you're going to need to find an utensil that you would want to use to construct your sigils. Once you have the utensil you can then begin the process of empowering it through different sources in order to give it power to use in your working.

One way that you would be able to do this is to call upon an entity that you are connected to, such as a deity, spirit guide, spirit companion, thought-form, or some other form of entity. Any entity will do as long as you have a good connection to them, and they are willing to help you out. Call upon them and ask them to bless and empower your sigil making utensil, so that their energy can be present in helping you with your working through the use of the tool.

You are also able to empower the tool through the use of your own power both spiritually, and mentally by simply focusing upon it, and visualizing your essence going within it. This will allow your spiritual energy to go within the tool to be stored up for later, and to work through your intention of empowerment. This will also allow you to mentally associated the object with its purpose, empowering it in your consciousness, and the collective consciousness. These things will help give the tool power in your working, so that it will be able to empower your sigils, when you go through the process of using it.

Another way that you would be able to Empower your sigil making utensils would be to create, charge and activate sigils upon it, so that those sigils would be able to imbued that object with their power. For this process you would want to use sigils that have the intention of providing power, energy, empowerment, blessings, or some other type of property that you would like to give your tool to help you with in your sigil making practice.

Now that your sigil making utensils has been created you

will now be able to use it in order to create your sigil representation.

SIGIL PLACEMENT

When you are using your sigils in the most effective manner possible it is important to take into consideration sigil placement. Positioning sigils in different places can allow them to affect, and manifest their intended intentions in different ways. Such things as distance from the target there trying to affect, and if people can see, or interact with it simply can bring new variables into your manifestation process that you may have not planned for. By understanding certain ways of placing your sigils depending upon its intention you will more greatly have control over your sigils manifestation. These understandings are really only used for passively activated sigils, because they will stay around in certain positions, and because of this will be relative to other things in the environment, which will interact, and impact them. The power of a Sigil is released from the center outwards, starting with the sigil its self, then what is placed upon, and finally moving on to what is surrounding it. This power is then sent out to its target, so that it can manifest your will.

Depending upon where the sigil is placed can determine its sigil surroundings, and can affect aspects of it such as its metaphysical properties, its target, the sigils triggers, and available charging methods for the sigil. All of this stuff can be override it by the main intention of the sigil, and will only act upon its placement if it is not specified in its statement of intent, because of this if you would like to avoid interacting with certain sigil placements all you would have to do is specify that in the sigils intention. This works because the sigils programming gets laid out first in the statement of intent, and this acts as the core main programming of the sigil and cannot be overrided, but can be built upon by the sigil surroundings.

It is important when thinking about sigil placement to think of a spot where the sigil will be able to accomplish its tasks without being disturbed, while also being charged with power, and in good proximity to the target, or a taglock of the target. This will definitely change based on intention, so it is important to find what is the best plan for the sigil that you are using.

The sigil should be as close as possible to the target that they are trying to affect. This is so that the power of the sigil can travel less of a distance, and can connect more with what it is affecting. This allows it to use less power, and to manifest itself more effectively through the ways in which it is connected to the target. Proximity to the target, or to a taglock of the target is very important, because this allows the sigil to interact with that target, so that the power of the sigil knows where to go.

Everything that is around the sigil will also provide it metaphysical properties, and intentions that can change different aspects of it, and can severely change the way that your sigil is manifesting. Because of this, it is very important to pay attention to the sigil surroundings and sigil placement. Even such things as colors, and materials that your sigil is drawn next to, or upon can change the way it behaves. Other sigils, and symbols that are around your sigils will also affect your sigil by adding on to its intention with their own.

SIGIL VISIBILITY:

When thinking about sigil placement you would also want to think about if you would like people, or yourself to see the sigil, or not. Both of them have their advantages, and disadvantages depending upon different situations. By having your sigil in a visible spot anybody who sees it, or interacts with it will be able to be influenced by it more easily, and will also give it power. This will allow it to be greatly active, and to also continue gaining charge from whoever comes in contact with it. Even if people do not know they are seeing or interacting with it they will still be giving it power. Though because the sigil is visible other people will know that the sigil is present, and may try to go through the act of getting rid of it, or countering your magick, if that is their desire. If you do not want to have your sigil visible you can always hide it just out of sight, so that it will be in the vicinity of what it is trying to effect, but will be more discreet in the process. If it is done this way it cannot simply rely on people's interactions to give it power, and must have some form of power source to fuel it's continuous activation.

SIGILS IN PUBLIC:

By placing sigils in public areas you will be able to influence the area, and the people within it no matter if your sigil is visible, or not. If your sigil is visible it will imprint in people's minds, and will be taken with the mentally, though the sigil will have a higher chance to be tampered with. They do not have to be willing in order for this imprint of the sigil to enter their mind, they just have to be present.

SIGIL POWER SOURCE:

Finding a place where your sigil will be able to be charged by you, or by some other source of power is very important, because without power your sigil will not be able to operate. If it is nearby to you, and readily available without any need to be discreet then you would be a perfectly fine charging method for the sigil, and would only have to come back to it every once in awhile to give it power through some form of charging method, if it is not open to you then it would be a good idea to find a different charging source that can be done without you needing to be involved. Sigils that are placed next to active, or moving constructs, or entities will be able to draw on power from those actions charging the sigil for its activation. otherwise it would be a good idea to use items that emit power such as crystals.

BODY SIGILS:

 Sigils place on the body will charge from the person's natural power, and will be able to remain constantly active. This is perfectly safe, and this most likely will not provide significant mental, spiritual, or physical drain to the person. The sigil may take on different metaphysical properties depending upon where it is placed on the body, and it may help the versatility of certain sigils if they are placed in certain spots. Keeping sigils on your body, or near to it will allow you to take that sigil, and its power into your life. This would also allow the sigil to be completely accessible to you at all times of the day giving you great control over your manifestation process.

SIGIL EMPOWERMENT:

Sigils that are placed on specific items can affect those items by enchanting them with their power. This could be done by simply having the sigil with you on a piece of paper, or it could be done by having a sigil drawn or tattooed on your skin. Sigils that are used this way can be used to make amulets, tailsmans, and other enchanted items through the act of simply placing sigils upon items that you want to enchant.

SIGIL TO SIGIL:

Sigil placement must also be thought relative to other forms of the same sigil representation. Sigils that are the same are inherently connected to each other, and do share power in some way between each other. This direct line between two of the same sigils also carry its power, and these lines of power can be used to set up perimeters, and areas that can be influenced by the sigils.

SIGIL DIRECTONS:

Which way the sigils are facing can play a big part in how they release their power, and how it manifests. All the different directional orientations have metaphysical properties that go along with them, and will affect your sigils manifestation, because of this it is a very good idea to have in mind the different aspects of these directions, and how they may go about affecting your working. Sigils get there right side up by the way in which they were created, and intended to face, and this will determine which way they are pointing.

The cardinal directions usually have very dynamic metaphysical properties that are related, and connected to aspects of the environment around the area. Depending upon what is in that specific direction will determine what form of power will be added to your sigil. If your sigil is facing the east, and the ocean is in that direction your sigil will bring in the power of the ocean into its manifestation, because of this it is important to know your surroundings when putting down sigils. You may also have personal associations with each direction, or associations from your specific tradition that may also be useful to uses when you are placing down your sigils. Sigils that are facing the cardinal directions can be made upon a horizontal surface.

Sigils that are upright, or right facing represent their base natural properties, and are able to be charged, and activated in order to be used for these properties. This is the primary way that most sigils will be use. Sigils that are inverted, or left facing bring out the reversed form of their properties, and allow the sigils to be used for the exact opposite of what they were created for. For Sigil to be written in this orientation they must be placed upon a vertical surface.

SIGILS, AND COLOURS:

Different colors have different metaphysical properties, which sigils can incorporate to be more powerfully associated with their intentions. You could even go through the process of incorporating a couple of these colors into the sigils design in order to double up on certain metaphysical properties. This would definitely give your sigils another aspect to draw from in helping you to manifest your desire, and could be something very useful if you take the time to understand how to use it properly in you're working. In order to incorporate these colors all you would have to do is create a sigil representation upon a surface that is that color, or create the sigil in that color. Doing either of these would allow the sigil to act upon the metaphysical properties of the color used in order to help manifest your desire. Because of all this it would be a good idea to match the metaphysical properties of colors to the sigils that you are using, such as a love sigil being done in red, or pink, or a sigil for money being done in green, or gold. You could even use multiple colors if you wanted to.

SUBSTANCE:

When you are making sigils you are able to enhance the power based on the material it is either made out of her place upon. Every different material has its own metaphysical property that can be used in order to enhance the effectiveness of your sigil in many different ways. You do not have to greatly focus upon this understanding, but if you do choose to focus upon it you can get some much-needed nuances to your sigil application. The metaphysical properties of these things will change depending on what specific type it is, so the construct of wood would have its own metaphysical properties, but every specific type of wood would also have their own, so in order for you to get the most out of this understanding you should also dive into figuring the specific metaphysical properties for the types.

The materials in which sigils are placed upon can affect their manifestation. All different materials have different metaphysical properties which will affect the sigil differently

BODY SIGILS

Body sigils can be powerful tools in your arsenal as they can be very effective ways of using sigils. A body sigil is any sigil that has been either tattooed, or drawn upon the body. The placement of the sigil allows it to work with you on a very personal level pretty much becoming integrated into your life as it exists upon your skin. This connection can be used to facilitate its effectiveness in your life.

Mostly all body sigils are passive sigils, and will release their power over time, while they are connected to your body. Though you can go through the process of placing a sigil upon your body that will be activated actively through its eventual removement after performing some charging process. In order to actively activate it you would have to go through the process of destroying, and removing it from your skin by washing away what you drew the sigil with, or by interrupting the natural design of the sigil by crossing it out. By placing a sigil trigger on a body sigil one will be able to activated once. it has built up power, and is ready to release that power at a specific point. This is a very dynamic way in order for you to store power in

specific intentions upon your skin until you are ready to release them. Sigil triggers like saying a specific word, or tapping upon that sigil you would like to activate will allow it to start releasing its power, and this process could be used in any situation where you would need some extra help from that intention.

Any form of written sigil can be placed upon your body, but you would most likely want that sigil to be for something that would be able to help you in your personal life, or in the environments in which you frequent. It would also be a good idea to make sure it is a beneficial sigil for the body that it is placed upon. Sigil with negative intentions should not be placed upon the skin unless you are looking to curse the one that it is placed upon. Sigil placement upon the body can also be very beneficial depending upon where you decide the place the sigil. Every single body part has its own metaphysical properties that can be used in order to give more power to the sigil and provided with different meaning. Below is a list of different body parts and their metaphysical properties that could help influence the intention of your sigil:

Head: Knowledge, creativity, confidence, spirituality

Placement can be a very important part of placing a sigil upon your body, and working sigil magick effectively. Though it does depend on what type of outcome you are trying to manifest from your sigil magick working and how you can best use your body to maximize your effectiveness.

Sigil placement is a very important understanding in the effective use of body sigils. Allowing the sigil to even be in a visible spot upon your body, or a non-visible spot would allow the sigil to interact with the environment and your state of being in different ways. Allowing people to interact with the sigil in a visible spot upon your body would allow others to give your sigil power. This would allow the sigil to charge off of their interaction allowing it to work better for you. You would also be able to charge it through your interaction with it, and by recognizing its presents on your body, so allowing you to be able to see it also on your body could also give it the power that it needs, while also reminding you of your intentions. Most often these sigil are simply charged through the act of being seen, or simply through the act of using a person's personal power to empower the sigil.

WAYS TO CONNECT A SIGIL TO THEIR TARGET

There are many ways to go about attaching a sigil to their target through the use of taglocks, and magickal links. These methods can be incredibly helpful when trying to get an effect to manifest itself upon another. By understanding the process of how to create such bonds between sigils, and their targets you will be able to make strong connections that will be able to effect whatever you want them too.

You are able to make your statement of intent with a name, or target in mind, so that your sigil when charged, and activated will affect that person, place, or thing. All you would have to do in order to work it in to your statement of intent would be to put the name, or target within it with the rest of the statement affecting it. It would be something like "Tom is having a good day. " or "My book has sold a lot of copies." Simply by doing this you will connect the sigil that is created from the statement of intent to target a specific construct, or entity. You are able to use the name of any specific entity, or construct in order to target it. You can do this by putting it in the statement of intent like we discussed earlier, or you could even simply write the name in the vicinity of the sigil. You could also use a picture in order to target an entity or construct by simply drawing the sigil near to a picture, or on top of it. Certain objects that are associated, or connected to the target could also be used such as a piece of the target, or something the target has come in contact with. The sigil would only have to be placed near to the objects, or on top of, or below it in order to connect to them, and the target. You could even use a name sigil in order to target a specific thing with your sigil. You would want to link the name sigil, and the desires sigil together in some form of way to do this you could use a big circle around both of the sigils, or you could put two small circles around both of the sigil, and draw a line connecting both of the circles. It may also be a good idea to incorporate an arrow upon the line to direct the power of the desire sigil, so the name sigil cannot affect the desire sigil. You could also go through the process of connecting the sigil to a linking sigil, so that the linking sigil could come in contact with your Target and would be the link between it and your magick.
